Hares: Blade Runner & Ayatollah Nightmare
WELL!!!! What a wonderful night it was. With one of those unusually bright, clear, moon lit, star filled ceiling’s above us we ran off into the night of April 02 at 7.30pm from our hash base.
For those of us brave enough and able to get out on the trail of venerable hares Blade runner and Ayatollah Nightmare, we ran left onto Old Parham road east on an immediate false trail and then south onto factory road up and around the Botanical Gardens to our first pit stop, Groove.
As it was Good Friday, a public holiday the hares had made alternative arrangements to provide the necessary ingredients for us to maintain our bright and sunny dispositions and here we stopped off for our first beverages of this city run. In a few minutes the call was made and off we went again down into town and left onto cross street, finding our way all the way out onto all Saints road where we stopped again at an unnameable establishment ‘on the road there’ where we had our second top up to go.
Again in a few minutes Blade runners call On On rang out and away we went westward down all saints road past the public market into and across town, to Long street, via Market Street. Right on Long street up to the parking lot next to the beautifully lit, regal Anglican Cathedral and our third water stop. There we got the opportunity to sit and chat with one of our visiting hashers and a past Hash Master of the AHHH, Trevor Gittens (Dong Spout) who with his beautiful wife, Soak Away was here supporting us and enjoying the energy and excitement of this evening. In a few minutes once more we ran on off to across town to St, Johns’ street, turned right and onto Cross street heading for our final pit stop which just happened to be immediately next to the most desired spot in the country. People are just dying to get there and here we were at a place by the name of Free Spirits, that used to be called Zombie bar right next to the public cemetery. We had a great view, front row seats so to speak and although there may have been some activity to witness, we were all concentrating on quenching our own thirst and trying to reinvigorate our tired muscles. Again in a few minutes – loudly proclaiming ON ON our hares led us off on a chase through upper gambles and around and back to our base the Price Waterhouse Coopers' parking lot where our usual beverages and food were happily consumed until shortly after midnight.
